First, I understand that I'm privileged in various ways and could also be seen as not neutral, because I'm close to the Bitcoin Office, its team, and its educational work.

When I arrived in El Salvador 3 ½ years ago, few people knew me. I didn't meet and get to know Max and Stacy for the first year or so, and really more so quite recently. Before that, I wondered what they were really like.

What I have found is that they are incredible. Stacy works hard and has supported and built an amazing team of local talent at the @bitcoinofficesv, a generation that are now coming into their own. Here is one great recent example: https://t.co/hICXjM0Pna.

This team came up from young people that had applied to the @cuboplus program and worked well. To give them a better future, Stacy gave them jobs at the Bitcoin Office and probably paid some of their salaries herself.

Max and Stacy have also had their hands full working to keep shitcoiners away from El Salvador and keeping crypto scammers from overly influencing the leadership.

Stacy and the team did an absolutely amazing job at organizing the first @btchistoricosv conference at the National Palace last November.

I see them working, organizing, participating, and learning continually. It's very impressive. The best of the team already have a bright future, moving to impressive roles in El Salvador like @maiojose1.

Stacy and Max and I have been discussing ways to help some of them become bitcoin protocol engineers. There is also work on a university curriculum for CS/Bitcoin/AI that I participated in last year. It's still early days here where the challenges are more down to earth (elementary education, infrastructure, energy, water, construction, investment, etc.), but maybe that will happen.

Today I step down as Executive Director of the Artificial Intelligence Agency of the Government of El Salvador, not in retreat, but in obedience to a greater calling.
I step up into the field of energy and the building of infrastructure, for I have come to know that all achievement, all progress, all human advancement begins with the intelligent direction of energy. Energy is not merely power. It is the very substance from which life itself is fashioned. It flows through every green leaf that turns toward the sun, through every cornerstone of civilization, and through the mind of every child who walks to school with hope in their eyes.
I have not chosen the easy path, for there is no easy path to greatness. What I have chosen is the necessary path — the path that aligns human effort with the laws of nature and the Infinite Intelligence that governs all things. This is not work as the world commonly defines it. It is the way of life itself. It is the definite major purpose to which I now give my full devotion: to awaken the untapped potential of El Salvador, the land that gave us birth, and to help transform its hidden blessings into visible riches for its people.
Where once I labored to place intelligent tools in the hands of government and citizens, I now labor to place the foundation of reliable, clean, and abundant energy beneath those tools. For without energy there can be no sustained progress, no lasting prosperity, and no future in which mothers and fathers may plan with confidence for their children’s tomorrow.
I go forward not alone, but in harmony with a larger vision: to help build the infrastructure that turns President Bukele’s vision into enduring reality. One that seeks to harness the natural forces of this nation so that opportunity may run free in the minds of its children, and hope may become the daily inheritance of its families.
This is my definite purpose. This is my commitment. I do not step down. I step up — into the work for which I was prepared, and into the greater mission that now calls us all.
