pan jest nie tylko współodpowiedzialny za machinę nienawiści i pogardy pańskiej partii i szczujnię Kurskiego – pan był najwyżej postawionym trybem tej machiny.

Ta machina łamała wielu ludziom życie – dzieciom i młodzieży LGBT, kobietom, każdemu, kogo uznała za wroga.

Niektórym je odebrała.

Korzystał pan z niej pełną gębą, dawał na nią miliardy, brał w niej żywy, chętny, czynny i świadomy udział.

I nic ani nikt tego z pana nie zmyje.

Today Boris Nemtsov would have turned 67.

We knew each other for more than twenty years. There were times when we argued, and times when we agreed completely. But when I was sent to prison in 2003, Boris didn't stop to weigh the risks, as so many did. For all ten years he openly stood on my side, joined the pickets, and helped my family. In politics, this is the rarest quality: staying true to your word and to a person when it can cost you everything.

Borya was one of the few who understood with absolute precision where Putin's system was heading. Ten years ago he was already warning where permanent, unchangeable power leads: to a major war, international isolation, and the complete decay of state institutions. That is why he was killed by the Kremlin walls.

Those who ordered his murder are well known, and so is the reason the investigation was shut down. Moscow still has no street named after him, but people keep bringing flowers to the bridge, despite all the clear-outs and threats.

I always called Borya on this day to wish him a happy birthday. After my release, I managed to do it in person only once.

Doctors are now fighting to save the lives of people injured in the Russian strike on Kramatorsk. As of now, 30 people have been confirmed killed, and sadly, that number may rise. The Russian bomb effectively hit two city minibuses. Some of those killed have still not been identified because of the severity of their injuries. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Another 18 people were injured in the strike. Residential buildings and cars were also damaged.

This strike will not go unanswered. Russia is trying to destroy all life in Donbas, and a response from the world is a must. A forceful response – exactly as the Russians deserve for all the deaths they have brought. May all those killed rest in peace.

The President of the United States has announced, with obvious pride, that he phoned Vladimir Putin and asked him for fuel. He calls it a great success. It is the richest country on earth going cap in hand to the man who bombs Ukrainian cities every night, because diesel became expensive before an election.

For four years Europe paid more for its energy, housed millions of refugees and emptied its arsenals so that Putin would not be rewarded. Washington has now concluded that all of it matters less than a cheaper tank for a truck in Ohio, and has told Ukraine to stop hitting the refineries that pay for the war.

This used to be the country others measured themselves against. Its remaining admirers are in Moscow and Pyongyang, and it has become exactly the kind of shithole it used to sneer at.
