https://t.co/UeXt45Tvne @KIN110UofR Carbon offsetting may sound beneficial, however, it does less than what we actually think. This article does a great job at explaining what carbon offsetting is really doing and the effects it has on less powerful countries.
@JassiaWedewer @KaitlynRichter0 @KIN110UofR I really find the initiative these fans are taking to take care of the stadium inspiring. There are so many other cases where we see fans doing the exact opposite and trashing their surroundings. I wonder if in the future we can normalize this behaviour in sport settings.
https://t.co/1pwyjhkgJl For those of you following the World Cup you may have heard about this. However, going back to our discussion in class on violence, this article goes over a recent riot in Belgium after their team lost to Morocco. @KIN110UofR#mobmentality
https://t.co/NHmpuU0GnG @KIN110UofR The US women's soccer team has managed to use their platform to establish equal pay with the men's team. I think it is pretty incredible that they were able to do that in this way and shows that positive steps towards equality are being taken

@KIN110UofR In an era of multiple screens and platforms, this article looks at how an athletes performance is impacted when exposed to praise or criticism from fans. I think this is very interesting as it shows one way in which media has affected sports.
@abby_fichtner@KIN110UofR When I played youth sports some things we did were blasting music and having mini dance parties before games, going through haunted houses and making time before practice to simply kick a ball around as a team. All of these things were fun, harmless and really brought us together
@KIN110UofR https://t.co/tTmJBmXnZT I was trying to find an article around fan violence to post and I came across this. It is hard to imagine how anyone could ever behave in this way. Soccer fans can be very passionate but this crosses a line and they should be held accountable.

@KIN110UofR I found a parkour gym located in Saskatoon. In regards to our last class discussion, what are your thoughts on parkour and leisure. Do you think parkour is a deviant behaviour? Would you go try out this gym?
@KIN110UofR https://t.co/w18m6BpHs4 MLS is taking action to increase inclusion within their own organization and surrounding communities. They plan on using their resources and platform to bring awareness to social justice issues and provide more opportunities for kids in grassroots programs
@KIN110UofR https://t.co/Pzxtb2f2bH This article explains this well. When a women doesn't lead well we assume women can't lead but for a man they are just not the right "fit". A lot of women then leave these roles causing a decrease in role models for younger girls to look up to @KIN110UofR
@KIN110UofR@KIN110UofR My favourite topic so far has been youth sport and socialization! I participated in sports throughout the entirety of my youth and I find it very interesting in how I can make connections between the material and my own personal experience
@adrian_kalena@KIN110UofR@KIN110UofR Athletes can and should stand up for their beliefs. In this case, no one was trying to disrespect the anthem but instead bring attention to a big problem. The fans should not boo him and by doing so show they don’t understand the purpose of not rising for the anthem
@KIN110UofR I think both the athlete and the organization they play for are responsible for ensuring an athlete does not got bankrupt. The organization should provide some form of financial assistance and guidance. However, it is the athletes responsibility to apply this knowledge
@KIN110UofR Most playgrounds I grew up with were relatively safe but some of them did promote #riskyplay with the structures themselves being very old and made out of metal or wood. However, I have noticed changes in a few parks near my home and they now promote a #cultureofcaution
@KIN110UofR Certain programs are beginning to teach how to create/execute workout programs. This helps fill the gaps of basic levels of strength and movement that playing only one sport might not target. It also prevents the overuse of certain muscles and high rates of repeating injuries
@KIN110UofR@KIN110UofR I grew up playing soccer and it is something I am passionate about. However I came across this article explaining how women’s soccer was banned in Canada. It’s crazy to think if I had been born in the 70s I probably would not have played soccer.https://t.co/0O6E2VmlUC
@KIN110UofR@KIN110UofR In my family sports are highly valued as they bring a sense of community and provide an opportunity for an individual to grow. Due to this, I played soccer growing up and still due with a few old teammates. I also coach, run in my spare time and lift weights.
@KIN110UofR I agree with what all of the activities have been categorized as. While all include a skill set that relies on constant practice society has formed a general concept that sport should include physical activity, uncertainty in outcomes and provide an institutionalized competition
