@jackie_codes I think most software dev at that level comes from experience.
From your co-workers, especially those who have been in the field longer.
From moving to a new company and see how they are doing things etc.
But when you are a solo dev it can become trickier.
We need a network.
Here a new mini tutorial I worked on yesterday.
This is an extension to my tutorials on player health and updating heart guis.
The solution should also be useful even if you made your own health system.

Hi all.
I just uploaded a new dev log for Hekla the Witch.
In this episode I talk about how I combine components and states in the game.
Diving into this was inspired by my earlier tutorial on communication between components in #godot

Tuesday.
Today’s cup: from DTU Robocup, a yearly robotics competition that is held at my old uni.
I started the day by editing the script for a new dev log and recording all the audio.
Yarn and knitting needles are to remind my to take breaks (also, I need new socks)

Normally I don’t have any time to work in the mornings.
But this morning my husband had to take our youngest to an appointment.
So I jumped into hyper focus, and now the first episode in my new series
“Learn to program using GDScript and Godot” is finally almost done🤩
#godot
Yesterday I got SO much done.
Inspired by my last video on different ways to handle communication between components, I looked into a few ideas on how to combine components and states.
After a relaxing walk I finally ended up with a design I liked for Hekla the Witch😎

@thecodecutter I hope to fully leave X as well at some point.
But I think it will have to take some time for me.
One tiny step at the time, until I'm comfortable enough to take the final jump😎
You can also find me at 'that other blue place'.
I plan to post mainly on Bluesky going forward, but most of the time I will also cross post on Twitter and Mastodon for now.

@CGarageCoder @derpapapanda I think my idea is to start with cubes and height maps.
And then move into different topics from there.
Uh this reminds me, that I need to add marching cubes to my list of potential topics
I think I know, what one of my next tutorials series is going to focus on🤩
You can use a 'simple' voxel world project to learn about so many interesting topics.
Comparing and optimizing data structures and algorithms (my favorite topic), chunking and multithreading and more😎
It is okay to fail!
It is okay to overscope.
It is okay to start out with a gigantic dream project as the first game you ever try to make.
Especially when we are set out to learn new things, we shouldn't be afraid to just dive in, dream big, experiment and fail again and again.
@LucyLavend Oh, I regret not getting the keychain.
And I hidding my golden Godot pin for now - my 5yo is in a phase, where she thinks anything shiny and golden is hers🤣
Take-away from GDExtensions workshop ad #godotcon24 :
If you already know C++, then it seems really simple to get started, and I can’t believe I waited this long to get started😅
Hopefully I will get my first little test properly working tonight😎

New video is out.
I had a lot of fun experimenting with a few new things for this video, so hopefully you will like it - I know I had fun making it!😎

Tomorrow we will celebrate my birthday in Berlin and then: GodotCon🥳
#madewithgodot#GodotEngine
Finished editing a new video today.
On the way to Berlin and GodotCon😎
Will try to upload from the hotel, but it takes sooo long😅
It will probably be up tomorrow🥳
#madewithgodot#tutorial#GodotEngine
@derpapapanda It just finished uploading so everything is fine.
'Only' took about 1,5 hours'.
Not sure the internet we had at the hotel in Hamburg would have worked😅
