@cozwva With all due respect, these issues need to be raised with the Ministry of Public Service, Labour & Social Welfare and relevant departments. What Wicknell Chivhayo does with his money is his choice, he is not the government.

We in Trócaire are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. Pope Francis recognised the innate dignity of each person and called out injustices against the most vulnerable people in our world. His was a voice of hope and justice at a time when many world leaders focused on narrow self-interest above the common good.
Pope Francis’ contribution to the environmental movement has been immense. In writing Laudato Si’ in 2015, and Laudate Deum in 2023, he urged the entire world to come together in urgent dialogue and action for the protection of our common home and ignited a movement for care of the earth across the global Church. The world needs more leaders like Pope Francis as we continue to stand up against the many injustices taking place around the globe. ‘Let us dream, then, as a single human family...as children of the same earth which is our common home, each of us bringing the richness of his or her beliefs and convictions, each of us with his or her own voice, brothers and sisters all.’ (Fratelli Tutti 8). Agroecology thrives in diversity — of crops, cultures, climates, and communities. It is grounded in the lived experience of farmers who know their landscapes intimately and have innovated ways to live in balance with nature over generations.
Agroecology promotes biodiversity, nurtures the soil, respects Indigenous/local knowledge, and strengthens local economies. But choosing agroecology means challenging powerful interests that benefit from the status quo - agrochemical companies, seed monopolies, land speculators.
Our current food system is dominated by industrial agriculture — a model that relies on fossil fuels, chemical inputs, monocultures, and corporate consolidation. It promises efficiency and yield, but too often delivers environmental destruction, poor health outcomes, and poverty.
Transforming our food systems is not just about what happens on the farm — it’s about who holds power, whose voices are heard, and what kind of future we are building together.
Agroecology is emerging as a beacon of hope in a world grappling with climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and deepening inequality. It is not just a set of sustainable farming techniques — it’s a political, cultural, and ecological response to a food system in crisis.
I wish you 2024 filled with peace, laughter, success, and God's love. I will personally make 2024 my year, with every hope that my plans will align with God's plans for me.
