This fund has just shut down.
I assume it was because of the article below.
According to someone from the firm, they "recently learned that Yann has existing exclusive relationships with other funds that were not fully understood at the time".
This is wild.
Yann was out raising for a fund despite having exclusivity relationships with another fund.
It's not clear which fund, although he was appointed as an adviser to European VC firm Hiro Capital last year.
I watched @jordihays and @johncoogan discussing the fund on @tbpn like 25 minutes ago.
Now it's been shut down. Tech moves FAST.
Updated article here: https://t.co/UJmGF2hjLQ
DAMN - Yann LeCun is raising a new AI-focused VC fund.
He raised $1bn earlier this year for his startup @amilabs.
Now he's raising a fund.
The firm, named Extelligence Invest, will invest in companies across:
> AI and data infrastructure
> Healthcare technologies and human longevity
> Cross-border consumer platforms
> Frontier deeptech, including robotics, new mobility and compute.
Great stuff from @mayadhjourno, article from @Siftedeu linked below.
VERY INTERESTING @ylecun
Just read the thesis of Yann LeCun's fund for AI. Europe is ABSENT in their "global strategic triangle":
🧠 US & China for world class AI talent
💰 Capital from emerging markets like the Middle East and South East Asia for capital, and
🌏 Asia as the core market for growth
Side note: India, a massive market, is also missing from the thesis. The national AI strategy includes onboarding 38,000 GPUs, investing in startups and local LLMs. I'd be curious to hear thoughts on why this should or shouldn't be included in such a fund's thesis
There's a few ways to read this. One self-flattering version is that this is their attempt to avoid a crowded market like investing in European talent and capital for European sovereignty. Other interpretations require more introspection and most importantly, action
These Europeans/gringos crying and sobbing are going to have Turn off the TV then or become blind somehow because we are co hosting the 2030 World Cup and are automatically qualified. Assholes 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@digitalsapphic “Paraguay is hosting 2030” is the right level of delusion for anyone supporting yesterday’s gameplay. Can’t wait to see you “qualify automatically “ 🥰
There’s losing a game and then there’s being total losers. I’d be so embarrassed if I was in the crowd supporting Paraguay. Can’t wait to never see them play again.
Absolutely astonished. I don’t know what is more disappointing, Paraguay’s despicable sportsmanship or the referees blatant enablement of it. Willing to believe the bribe conspiracies at this point, unbelievable what gets a yellow card and what doesn’t .
Claude Science is incredible. I gave it some sequencing data, and in 8 hours it did a full analysis, generated figures, wrote a paper, submitted it for publication, got rejected, revised and resubmitted, got rejected again, it is now applying for positions in industry
IQM just listed on NASDAQ Helsinki and New York. A $1.9 billion company built on what most would consider sci fi. This is exactly why I love deep tech. Juha Vartiainen and I had a chat earlier this year about what it truly takes to build a contrarian winner.
Juha Vartiainen co-founded IQM out of a Finnish university lab and is now $1.9B. We talk quantum myths, first sales, physical AI, and what 8 years of building the impossible actually feels like. https://t.co/ZG1ayqoi0X
Kerli and I talked about many things: how founders should be more naive, life growing up in Estonia, the journey from physician to founder and building moats in a sea of bolt-on AI solutions. You can find the full episode here on Youtube: https://t.co/pA3ZrVseKf
Earlier this year, Bryan Johnson announced that Kate Tolo would become the "most measured woman" alive, with a $2 M investment and 3 months of tracking to deliver the female baseline for longevity . Here's what you actually need to develop a baseline.
If you want to know how to tether AI to biology to build generational companies or you just want to listen to a conversation with someone who has something genuinely new to say, you can find the interview on Spotify as well: https://t.co/rPmQdhuhgd
