A huge thanks to everyone who reposted my tweet and/or bought some art or just gave me some cash, my crisis has been averted. Freelance life is feast and famine, and whilst I’ve had a fair share of both in moderate degrees over the past 26 years today was an embarrassing frolic with the bottom of the barrel. I’ve had some grim moments along the way but I always had the “family home" (as in the rented house I grew up in) as a safety net to ride out the lean times. Since summer 25 tho I’ve been on my own, no rented family home, no parents anymore, and thus it’s been an adjustment living and working essentially from a hotel room. I don’t mind the journey; some folks have commented that it’s a wretched way to live but if you recall I was the guy who got deported from Croatia in 2002 and still went back for more. I’ve lived in some squalid places but always adapted, and thus I can take this new reality in my stride. After all, this hotel is clean and they leave me alone to paint, I have my own bathroom, it’s fine for now.

Today has really reminded me of two things however; firstly that all my old buddies are still normal and out there, and secondly that I really need to decide where I want to go (creatively) in this third act of my life. Today’s little event has helped reignite that spark of ambition, if only to ensure that I never have to rattle the begging bowl again.

Anyway, stream of consciousness rant over, I need to have a cup of tea, listen to my last jam session, and get on with that Dr Strange painting I started yesterday. And packing up all those pages that need to get sent around the globe.

Once again to all who participated, thank you very much, you have restored my faith. Normal service of posting process pix will resume asap.
