Deer, pig, and goat numbers are so high our forests are getting cleaned out. No new trees means no mature forests. Forest & Bird and other land owners are putting up fences to keep feral deer OUT. Sunday will be a must watch tonight.
🙏 @odtnews for publishing my second letter to the editor refuting the #misinformation that your correspondents (who are hunters & anti-1080 activists) are spreading that deer are ecological replacements of our extinct birds, especially moa. Deer are pests. Treat them as such.
This week is National Blood Donor Week and we want to thank you for being part of our whānau of lifesavers. Every blood, plasma and platelet donation you make helps to save lives. This week alone, 581 Kiwis will need your donations and we can’t thank you enough for being a donor.
We had a fantastic morning planting at Pukerua Bay with a great turn out.
Heartening to see all the growth of last year's planting as well and the kohekohe is having a strong flowering year too.
Not so great to flush a mob of six sheep out of the bush… https://t.co/7ifdLugNU8

The need for blood and plasma does not stop – and we’re counting on your donation. Please keep your appointments if you’re in good health. If you’re unwell, please reschedule so someone else can take your spot. Thank you for being a lifesaver.
Speaking as an @IPCC_CH Lead Author, these are some of the most important new messages from the #climate report out today: (🧵)
1. For the first time we’re seeing evidence of real, sustained decreases in greenhouse gas emissions from some countries.
But take a breath because…
Three extremely high use cases have impacted A+ blood levels which are now critically low. We need healthy, eligible people to book appointments, to ensure we can continue to have enough supply to meet demand. https://t.co/BUHqN8Tj12
🔥 The recent extraordinary heatwave in Antarctica appears to have set a new World Record for the largest temperature excess above normal (+38.5 °C / +69.3 °F) ever measured at an established weather station.
We urgently need A+ blood as blood stocks are critically low. Please make an appointment to donate if you are in good health and eligible to donate. Call 0800 448 325, download the NZBlood app or go to https://t.co/OEzXRvXAbG. We need appointments filled between now and Easter.
This post goes out to our generous donors across New Zealand who recently reached a significant milestone. Congratulations to you all and thank you for being a lifesaver.
P.S. We love seeing those smiling eyes!
