My grandfather built motors that powered big machines. In a lab not so different from his workshop, my colleagues and I uncovered the assembly of the bacterial motor. Today, this discovery has been published in @NatureMicrobiol#MolecularNodes#Discovery https://t.co/m98Df1DuOr
๐ง๐ท BREAKING: BRAZIL TO CUT STARLINK IN FUED WITH ELON MUSK
Brazil's government has stated that it will suspend all Starlink contracts in their ongoing battle with Elon.
This would result in many schools that use Starlink for internet access to lose coverage.
@elonmusk stated:
"Starlink will provide free Internet for schools in Brazil if the government won't honor their contract."
It appears the government is willing to sacrifice their student's education because Elon is fighting for free speech.

The previous Brazilian government recognized @elonmusk's exceptional contributions to Brazil, regarding him as a true and cherished friend of the nation.
Coming shortly, ๐ will publish everything demanded by @Alexandre and how those requests violate Brazilian law.
This judge has brazenly and repeatedly betrayed the constitution and people of Brazil. He should resign or be impeached.
Shame @Alexandre, shame.
I had the chance to meet and hang out with @JeffBezos. He is a great human being, and is super fun to talk to in part because he is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of rocket engineering & manufacturing, but also because of his humility and thoughtfulness. He gave me a tour of the Blue Origin rocket factory and launch complex in Cape Canaveral and we went up to the top of the tower on the launchpad. Looking out across the landscape towards the setting sun, standing where future astronauts will stand, I had an immense feeling of awe and excitement that humanity can take on such epic endeavors, boldly reaching out toward the stars โค๏ธ
Afterwards we ate burgers at a local bar, and talked about life. What a surreal day ๐คฏ We'll probably do a podcast soon, it'll be a fun one โค

Astronomers at the University of Leicester have made a groundbreaking confirmation of an infrared aurora on Uranus, a phenomenon theorized for years but never proven until now. Using the advanced capabilities of the Keck II telescope, they meticulously observed and recorded the first measurements of the elusive infrared auroral emissions. Specifically, they focused on the spectral barcodes or emission lines of charged particles, particularly H3+, which served as a cosmic thermometer to analyze the temperature and density of Uranus's atmosphere.
This discovery not only pushes the boundaries of our knowledge about outer planets but also has unexpected implications for understanding Earth's geomagnetic reversal and assessing the potential habitability of distant exoplanets. Lead author Emma Thomas emphasized that Uranus's energetic aurora plays a crucial role in generating and redistributing heat, impacting the planet's temperatures. The gas giants in our solar system, including Uranus, exhibit temperatures significantly higher than expected from solar warming alone, and the aurora may hold the key to this mystery.
Beyond our solar system, this research aids in predicting the atmospheres and magnetic fields of exoplanets that share physical characteristics with Uranus and Neptune. By delving into Uranus's aurora and its unique magnetic properties, scientists aim to forecast Earth's potential experiences during its next pole reversal, offering crucial insights into the dynamics of our own planetary magnetic field. This multidimensional exploration opens new avenues in space science, unraveling mysteries of outer planets while providing valuable lessons for understanding our home planet's magnetic future.
