Northern Greece. #orchids Great week in and around Kerkini, mainly birding, though hard to ignore the flora. Never knew Bosom Orchids were a thing, also Bug and Loose Flowered Orchids and Long -lipped Serapias.
Finally sorting through a few of the many butterfly images from a trip to Sichuan/China in June. Grison`s, Pallas`s, Silver Washed and Titania`s Fritillaries. Hadn`t realised that Silver Washed has such a wide range.
Excellent trip out of Staithes yesterday cetacean recording for YWT and Seawatch Foundation with YCN on ‘All my Sons’.Two Humpback Whales and a conservative count of 70 Minke Whales. Feeding actively on Herring and spawn which covered a large area.
@YCNature Excellent trip yesterday morning out of Staithes.....recording cetaceans with a minimum of 23 Minke Whales seen and possibly many more, mostly feeding in areas of Herring spawn. Seabirds didn`t disappoint with a Great Shearwater and a small raft of Sooty Shearwaters.

China/Sichuan on the Tibetan Plateau. A tiring early morning at over 3000m searching hills for Tibetan Partridge drew a blank. Later in the day two crossed the road in front of us and posed nicely. @BirdingSichuan
China/Sichuan @BirdingSichuan many Rosefinch species seen on the recent trip, including Dark-breasted, Common, Pink-rumped, Sharpe`s, Three-banded, Chinese White-browed, Streaked and this Violaceous Rosefinch one of the most frequently seen.
Sichuan/China, Black-chinned Yuhina one of the more common birds seen in most locations visited. Often inquisitive and usually present in mixed flocks with Fulvettas and Tits.
Sichuan @AddeyNick @dickiebowes Yibin hides, superb views of Sichuan Hill Partridges, Bamboo Partridges, Silver and Lady A pheasants and the star of the show Temmincks Tragopan what a beaut.
Enjoyable morning @FlamboroughBird with RB Shrike a couple of GN Divers, 2 Arctic Terns and a few Manxies. Returned home via Whykeham lake, Osprey fishing on main lake followed by the discovery of a Temmincks Stint which unfortunately only dropped in briefly.
North Yorkshire Moors and edges this afternoon. Some fab insects, Emperor Moths, Hornet and Duke of Burgundy butterflies. @castlebirder @SboroGottLad
