Don’t ask whose fault this was. Plenty of time for second-guessing and recriminations. Ask instead, what can you do? For my part, that means telling the truth as I see it, as long as I can. The media will be under a lot of pressure to toe the line; don’t capitulate in advance
"The guardrails are gone. The idea that checks and balances of the constitution would always be able to restrain a man like Trump now seem ludicrous." By @HenryCPorter https://t.co/2KxE8Qdg7d
Hard to believe 15 million Democrats evaporated. They didn’t appear in Trump’s numbers – so either 15 million Democrats chose not to vote, or something is up. I know the last thing the Democrats want to do is become the stolen-election conspiracists, but they can’t shrug it off.
This is probably the most astonishing rainfall data I’ve ever had my hands on. Turis, Valencia, Spain, found itself in the absolute worst of last week’s extreme rain event. The town ended up with a mind-boggling 771.8 mm (30.4 inches) of rainfall over the course of 24 hours.
Biden should go all out on climate for the next 75 days.
Declare a climate emergency. Get all the IRA money out the door. Permit new transmission lines. Stop new LNG exports. Ban drilling on public lands.
Make a mountain of progress for Trump to try and undo.
We are now at global warming of 1.45-1.55°C and rising.
* 6 years earlier than expected given scientific consensus
* 2 years earlier than worst case central estimate of so-called 'hot' models
* 1 year earlier than Ramanathan's 2018 projection (10% probability)
Make it news.🧵
That's your legacy, @IDF . The "most moral army" in the world, that *bombs people in tents*. You have made the world your enemy. You are a pariah state. You disgust the whole planet.
4 Palestinians killed by the israelis including a woman & a girl, after they repeatedly bomb a tent occupied by the Farra family in Khan Yunis, Gaza
@merylbatchelder Absolutely 💯
"To disrupt the current pace of environmental destruction and climate change, we cannot continue to do the same things that we’ve been doing; we cannot continue to be the same people; and, we cannot continue to be the same teachers."

Reading @jasonhickel 's #TheDivide on the train & tbh I have absolutely no idea how he managed to stick to pen & paper & resist grabbing the mother of all loudspeakers & use the nearest high roof to bellow these words of fire to the world. WTAF have we done to the world. Read it.
So is burning people alive in their hospital beds still attached to their drips your red line, yet, @Keir_Starmer@UKLabour@YvetteCooperMP ? Is it?? You're losing your mandate as fast as you're torching your human decency. Am speechless with disgust.

Choosing between Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch is akin choosing between rolling down an endless hill of sandpaper and having a pineapple shoved up your bum
Or it would be if the Tories were in power
Either of those will only damage the party more

I have said it before and I will say it again:
We are not going to “wellness”, “good vibes” or “one on one therapy” our way of out of a mental health crisis that is a direct outcome of structural and economic violence and inequality.

"On Friday, 14 June 2024, 12-year-old Muhammad Hushiyeh set out home from the soccer field in al-Am’ari Refugee Camp when he heard shots fired by Israeli soldiers at stone throwers and started running. Video footage shows Muhammad running away from the soldiers when several more shots are heard. Muhammad is then seen lying wounded on the sidewalk, about 70-75 meters from the soldiers who shot him, who were likely across the street from him.
An ambulance arrived a few minutes after Muhammad was shot but was repeatedly blocked from reaching Muhammad, causing a delay of nearly 20 minutes before he could receive medical care.
Muhammad Hushiyeh sustained internal injuries, underwent surgery and was hospitalized in critical condition for about a week before succumbing to his wounds on 22 June 2024. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that another six Palestinians were injured that day in the camp and in al-Birah, two seriously and four lightly."
