1/23: It’s widely believed that “grit” is one of the most important characteristics of highly successful people. I have an emerging (and controversial view) that the YOLO investing behavior that we’re seeing is directly attributable to a societal reduction in grit. Unpacked:

Hundreds of thousands of DC residents had to endure a coup in their backyard today, go into curfew at 6pm, and fear for their personal safety. None of them have any representation in Congress.
The incredible show of force that we saw in DC this summer... Where is it? That was nowhere near what we are seeing happen today as lawmakers in both chambers are in lockdown and unable to continue their duties while violent protestors storm the Capitol.
America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.
