John 14
New King James Version
The Way, the Truth, and the Life
14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The Father Revealed
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
The Answered Prayer
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [c]ask anything in My name, I will do it.
Jesus Promises Another Helper
15 “If you love Me, [d]keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [e]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
Indwelling of the Father and the Son
19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [f]manifest Myself to him.”
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
The Gift of His Peace
25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the [g]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to yourremembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because [h]I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

New King James Version
Jesus Prays for Himself
17 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He [a]should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together [b]with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
6 “I have [c]manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. 8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.
9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep[d] through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them[e]in the world, I kept them in [f]Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is [g]lost except the son of [h]perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.17 Sanctify[i] them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [j]will believe in Me through their word;21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

A very poor woman with a small family called a radio station to ask God for help.
A wealthy non-believer who was listening to the program decided to make fun of her.
He obtained her address, called his secretary, and instructed her to buy a large amount of food and deliver it to the woman's house.
However, he gave her one special instruction:
“When the woman asks who sent the food, tell her it came from the devil.”
The secretary delivered the food to the woman's home.
The woman was overjoyed and deeply grateful. She immediately began carrying the groceries into her small house.
After watching for a few moments, the secretary asked,
“Don't you want to know who sent all this food?”
The woman smiled and replied,
“No. Please thank whoever sent it.
I don't care who the person is, because when God gives an order, even the devil has to obey”

God’s Word Doesn’t Need Defending—Just Declaring – The Lion of the Book Roars on Its Own
Introduction
There is a strange nervousness in modern Christianity when it comes to the Bible. Men act like the word of God is a fragile museum artifact that must be handled by religious professionals wearing academic gloves. They talk like Scripture is sitting in the witness chair, waiting for scholars, apologists, professors, translators, philosophers, and preachers to rescue it from the attacks of unbelief. They think the Book is weak unless a man with a degree defends it, weak unless archaeology confirms it, weak unless science approves it, weak unless the culture respects it, weak unless the pulpit updates it, and weak unless some committee of Bible correctors can explain what God “really meant.” That is not Bible faith. That is religious unbelief wearing a necktie. God’s word does not need man to keep it alive. First Peter 1:25 says, “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.” The Bible is not on life support. It is the thing keeping men from spiritual death.
The old saying is true enough: you do not have to defend a lion; just let it out of the cage. The problem today is not that the Lion of the Book has lost His roar. The problem is that men keep locking Him behind footnotes, apologies, qualifications, modern revisions, scholarly doubts, soft preaching, and pulpit cowardice. They explain the Bible until nobody feels its edge. They defend it like it is helpless instead of declaring it like it is alive. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.” A sword does not need a seminar on metalwork before it cuts. Fire does not need a lecture on combustion before it burns. Light does not need permission from darkness before it shines. A lion does not need a lawyer before it roars. The word of God does not need to be propped up by human cleverness. It needs to be preached, believed, obeyed, and let loose.
That does not mean believers should be ignorant, lazy, careless, or unable to answer honest questions. First Peter 3:15 says to be ready always to give an answer. Jude 3 says to earnestly contend for the faith. Paul disputed, reasoned, persuaded, and defended the gospel when the occasion required it. But there is a difference between answering gainsayers and acting like God’s Book is dependent on your intelligence. There is a difference between contending for the truth and apologizing for the truth. There is a difference between defending sound doctrine and placing the Bible under the judgment of man’s scholarship. The Bible believer’s job is not to make the Book powerful. It already is. The job is to open it, quote it, preach it, stand on it, and refuse to tamper with it. God’s word does not need defending like a wounded animal. It needs declaring like a royal decree from the throne of heaven.
Chapter One: God’s Word Has Its Own Authority
The first thing a Bible believer must settle is that God’s word carries its own authority because it comes from God. The Bible is not authoritative because a denomination voted on it, a seminary approved it, a council recognized it, a scholar explained it, or a preacher preferred it. It is authoritative because “all scripture is given by inspiration of God.” Second Timothy 3:16 does not say all scripture becomes inspired when academics verify it. It does not say all scripture is useful after man corrects it. It says it is “given by inspiration of God.” That means the authority of Scripture begins with the God who breathed it, not with the man who reads it.
Modern unbelief always wants to drag the Bible down into the courtroom of human reason and make man the judge. The scholar says, “This verse is doubtful.” The critic says, “This passage is not original.” The liberal says, “This was shaped by community tradition.” The modernist says, “This reflects ancient culture.” The Bible corrector says, “A better rendering would
"Faith built this country into the most exceptional nation in the history of the world."
President Trump highlights the role religion has played throughout American history, saying faith inspired the nation's founders, strengthened generations of Americans, and helped drive the movement to abolish slavery.
With the U.S. approaching its 250th anniversary, Trump says America has been rededicated as "one nation under God."
She had been performing since she was eleven years old.
Irene Ryan spent decades working in entertainment. She appeared on vaudeville stages, performed on radio shows, acted in Hollywood films, and even toured with Bob Hope during World War II to entertain American troops overseas.
She built a solid career through hard work and persistence.
Then the jobs started disappearing.
By the early 1960s, the phone had almost stopped ringing. Irene was still talented, experienced, and eager to work, but Hollywood had largely moved on.
Like many performers, she found herself waiting for opportunities that no longer seemed to come.
Then everything changed with a single audition.
CBS was developing a new comedy called The Beverly Hillbillies. The producers already had another actress in mind for the role of Granny.
Irene auditioned anyway.
She pulled her hair into a bun, stepped into character, and delivered a performance that immediately changed their minds.
The role was hers.
Looking back, it's difficult to imagine anyone else playing it.
The Beverly Hillbillies became one of the biggest television hits of the 1960s. At its peak, it was the most-watched show in America.
And Granny became one of its most beloved characters.
She was outspoken, clever, fiercely protective of her family, and always convinced she had a cure for whatever problem appeared.
Audiences loved her.
Soon people stopped calling Irene Ryan by her real name.
At grocery stores, airports, restaurants, and public events, she was simply Granny.
Many actors struggle when a character overshadows their identity.
Irene seemed to accept it with good humor.
In a 1963 interview, she joked that six months earlier nobody cared whether she was alive or dead. Now everyone wanted to know how old Granny really was.
She wasn't complaining.
She understood how quickly fortunes could change in show business.
More importantly, she appreciated the second chance she had been given.
When The Beverly Hillbillies ended after nine successful seasons, Irene didn't retire.
She moved directly into a role on Broadway in the musical Pippin.
The performance earned strong reviews and reminded audiences that she was far more than one television character.
She was a skilled performer with decades of experience behind her.
In 1973, while still appearing in Pippin, Irene suffered a stroke and later passed away at the age of seventy.
She worked almost until the very end.
When her family selected the inscription for her gravestone, they could have chosen many titles.
Actress.
Comedian.
Performer.
Instead, they chose the name millions of Americans had used for years.
One simple word.
Granny.
After a lifetime in entertainment, it was the role people remembered most.
And she seemed perfectly happy with that.
Kate Forbes warned that the West will pay a “heavy price” if it abandons its Judeo-Christian foundations, arguing that many of the freedoms people enjoy today are rooted in biblical truth.
Speaking at the ARC conference in London, the former Scottish deputy first minister said values such as freedom, liberty, human dignity, and the worth of life flow from the Bible and have shaped Western society for generations. She cautioned that these freedoms are “not inevitable or guaranteed,” pointing to authoritarian regimes as a reminder of the alternative.
“There is an umbilical cord between them and the Bible,” Forbes said. “Separate that, and I invite you to consider the alternative.” She urged Christians to stand courageously for biblical truth, warning that abandoning the West’s Judeo-Christian heritage would come at a significant cost.
In John 16:33 Jesus said to his disciples, "In this world you will have tribulation, but take heart I have overcome the world." Atheists say an all-loving God would never tolerate the death & suffering of animals & since such animals exist, such a God can't exist. They fail to realize that gravity & thermodynamics, the laws that make death & suffering inevitable for all plants & animals, are crucial tools in God's hands for him to deliver a very large number of humans from their sin & evil so that they can fully receive & enjoy his love. The moment that God eradicates evil, gravity & thermodynamics no longer will be needed. They will be replaced by other laws. In the new creation, there will be no death, decay, suffering, pain, or grief. To read much more, see Why the Universe Is the Way It Is.
