🇮🇳🇨🇾 “𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲?”
📖 This intriguing question led a distinguished Cypriot scholar to discover the 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and translate 𝟑𝟎 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐤.
During an interaction with High Commissioner Mr. Manish @ManishGIfs, Dr. Iosif S. Iosifidis, a mathematician, economist, poet and former President of the Cyprus Writers’ Union and Cyprus Academy of Sciences, spoke with remarkable enthusiasm about his literary journey.
🔹 𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫?
Drawing a fascinating parallel with Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher, Dr. Iosifidis reflected on Vajpayee’s deeply introspective poetry, exploring peace, human dignity, humility and society.
🔹 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭?
Vajpayee’s prayer that even the greatest heights of achievement should never distance a person from fellow human beings.
For Dr. Iosifidis, it was not merely Vajpayee’s position as Prime Minister, but the depth of his thoughts and the human values expressed through his poetry that inspired such admiration.
🌏 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐬, 𝐩𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬.
Atal Ji’s verses have found a new voice in Greek, connecting cultures through ideas that transcend language and geography.
🎥 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 Dr. Iosifidis speak passionately about the poet and philosopher he discovered in Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
