A very cool article! I enjoyed reading it a lot. 😊

Hot mixing: Mechanistic insights into the durability of ancient Roman concrete https://t.co/LsAJoxB1LC
I really liked this article. They do cool stuff in sustainable building materials. Looking forward to hearing more about this research. https://t.co/JkYh7xTuRe
@Judeet88 As I understand the romans took the stone to build parts of the wall. It partially had to be repaired but more because people repurposed the stones over time than because of erosion.
Doing the hadrians wall path I saw the beautiful Cawfield Quarry. The rock is Whin Sill. The material is an intrusive rock that encountered metamorphism by heat. #geology
Hybrid opening session of ICRCS22 in Kyoto this morning! Thanks to Nicolas ROUSSEL, RILEM President, Takafumi NOGUCHI, RILEM 2022 Honorary President, and Hiroshi YOKOTA, Japan Concrete Institute President.
CO2 neutraler Beton, ein interessantes Thema auf dem @CEMEX_Germany Beton Forum in Potsdam.
CO2 neutral #concrete, an interesting topic at the CEMEX concrete forum in Potsdam today. #innovation
Had a great company outing from @BAMResearch as building materials department today. A big Thank You to the organizers! We visited @OekowerkBerlin and also @TeufelsbergDE. It was really cool 🤩. I am already looking forward to next year’s outing.
Take a look at the nice #fossil I found on a walk. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t origin from #Berlin or the near surrounding area. Most likely it is part of moraine sediment or debris from settlements.
If you ever asked yourself why the beautiful old towns of baltic sea cities like @StadtStralsund look like this: the supply of natural building stones in that area was low, so people made and used bricks for construction. 🧱 #Construction
A big thank you to the organizers of #WiNS Adlershof program from @HumboldtUni for doing a networking meeting for #WomenInScience@FuturiumD. Very cool 🤩, visit if you have the chance. I will definitely go there again. 😍
@GilesPalaeoLab As Miette would say: You dare to have the pricy croissant? Oh! Oh! Jail for researcher! Jail for onethousand years.
Now I imagine the expenses office inhabited by cats. 🤷♀️
@Aluminiumoxyni1 @BAMResearch The colleague used a GOM ATOS Q (camera device) to do the scans. It worked pretty well even if one surface was a bit shiny.
PM me on teams on Tuesday if you want the contact.
This week @BAMResearch we took some finely structured #Concrete surfaces and a colleague made 3D scans of the samples. 😍 This will aid the characterization of #biofilm growth that will be tested on the surfaces later. Look at the comparison! 🔬#Science#3D#BuildingMaterials
Also found fancy #mushrooms on my walk. Beautiful #fungi indeed. No idea what they are but I love the orange/yellow one. The area where I saw them was the former inner German border, today a strip of wood. #Berlin
@DrJMLewis @careerconversa1 Imho to differentiate is a luxury that you can’t afford as an academic that moved some hundreds of kilometers more than once in adult life.
@riverraptor12 @ickiestvicki Do you know if the difference in color comes from the surroundings the pieces were preserved in or where the colors already different when the animals were still alive?
