@vrexec Very nicely put. Mobility is something I’ve been reflecting on as well. Parenting seems like a challenge. I’m curious how you think your kids will adjust to moving to a different waypoint every 3–5 years
@ThinkAppraiser >Didn’t learn about yesterdays market drop until today
>Know it will bounce back as the money printer is about to go brrrr
>Happy that I’ll save a few hundred $ in next few weeks DCA
>Went back to playing with my kid
@realEstateTrent So many great memories when I lived there a decade ago. The part about Zipping down Franklin and catching all green lights 🙂 The city will be back !
Nope. If you are getting the QSBS exemption, after the sale the State tax saved will be under 10% of your overall networth. Not Worth upending your entire life when you can make it back in a year or two in the S&P.
It’s crazy how you can build a company for 5 years in California or New York
Then move to Florida or Texas for 2 years
And pay no state taxes when you sell your business
Capital gains taxes only typically apply at point of sale which feels like a pretty big loophole ??

The move to impact Indian IT companies is reasonable but the rushed roll out has raised so many questions about the 2nd order effects
1. Will new/existing students be impacted by this? Universities depend on Indian and Chinese students.
2. Will renewals/transfers counted as a “petition”. This would create a huge talent shortage impacting almost every S&P 500 company and startups.
Another person killed in front of his wife and Son. Heartbreaking. While most immigrants are peaceful, who would tell this family that they just caught “one bad apple”. Hardworking law abiding people are being failed by unvetted immigration.
There are only a few free lunches in tax - Section 121 is one of them.
Live in your house 2 years, sell it, keep up to $250k ($500k if married) tax-free.
I have met several people who have earned 1MM+ tax free by house hacking this way.
An opportunity you shouldn’t miss.
Great for the current generation(including myself). Not so great for the future ones. By the time my kid is 25, a 2000 sqft house almost anywhere decent in SoCal would be 4-5 million. They all will need help probably in a different economic environment. The only thing comes to mind is to use this bump to double down in appreciating assets.
This is really sad. I’ve been to that shop a couple of times—it’s a family-run business.
It feels like we’ve lost our social contract.
It’s also absurd that there’s so little security in the state with the highest taxes and such a high cost of living. People stay because of jobs, the weather, and family ties, but I’m not sure how much longer that will last.
It seems like the state in decline maybe even a representation of the whole country.
A horde of California felons descended upon a jewelry store in Artesia, smashing display cases and stuffing handfuls of jewelry into bags before fleeing the scene.
Even worse are the 3 terrorized employees that are revealed after the shop is picked clean.
I hope you’re sitting down, but no suspect descriptions have been released, and no arrests have been made.
@vrexec Absolutely a real thing. I spent almost all of May in Europe—ate tons of bread and naan with zero issues. Felt great, didn’t gain a pound. Came back to the States, and boom—my body instantly reminded me I can’t eat like that here. 🤔
