Here's today's analysis of @mathieuvdpoel's RVV. Looking at the last 3 hours, it started at Berg Ten Houte. Huge effort after a number of digs. Imagining there was some concern then. 1/5
Hi @bjrmd - I did some reading through your blog, but didn't find anything specific about correcting R-R errors in #Fatmaxxer The first ~20' of data is often useless but the errors disappear later in the ride without changing anything. I do wet HRM strap before riding. Thoughts?
@ThomasTollstedt I mentioned that I’ve been focused on reducing caffeine intake and an improved wind down/sleep schedule. Is it surprising to see increases in pNN50 in that time period? or perhaps coincidence? @altini_marco
@ThomasTollstedt Nice work Tom!
Here's mine - the massive dip was a nasty cold. I've found that reducing my caffeine intake and winding down before bed (no screens) has helped me significantly! #HRV4T
I'll echo that this is common in my experience with real-time DFAa1. Some days, it works really well, no errors. Other days, I get lots of artifacts and massive variability, making it completely useless.
FWIW, I've been using the gold standard H10 with FATMAXXER app.
RVV2021 proved a bit too much for too long. Over 3 hours of hard riding on difficult pavé left him with nothing in his legs for his usual strong finishing sprint. Deepest effort at the Koppenberg. Many thanks to @mathieuvdpoel for sharing your data on Strava!
Thanks for sharing! And for being so open/available for those who are trying to apply this knowledge to their own training. It’s fun interacting with all the #SportsScience geeks all over the world!
Thanks for a rigorous study! I really have enjoyed reading through and providing a summery so people ca apply these concepts in their own training! Keep up the good science!
Fantastic summary of one of our recent articles at
@cidumh. Science applied directly to the field of endurance training with the main purpose of optimizing cycling performance. Thanks to

@baronbiosys New feature of Sessions, great way to do painful workouts together. This Friday’s after work for us CET’s. @ManofSteele41 pushed me real hard on that second set! 💥 Everyone should try this! 😎
