@ShadowMann9 gold still has lots of value in war torn third world countries . Reducing first world countries to third world standards is realistically what a major crisis would look like. Gold and precious metals even had great value in the pre-colonial Americas.
@CdeBurner@sudoingX I just ordered a 64gb framework desktop after coming to the same conclusion. Just couldn't justify spending the extra for the 128gb. Excited for it to arrive. Also they have deals on refurbished models but note you need to order a few extra items like memory, fan, cable
@sudoingX Thank you for this message, basically no one is talking about the 64gb Framework Desktop for AI. I actually came to the same conclusion a few days ago and ordered the refurbished 64gb Framework. I just couldn't afford spend the extra money for 128gb.
@noperator@sudoingX I'm considering buying a framework desktop over a Mac Studio, mainly because I prefer Linux. The limited memory bandwidth has me not 100% sold. Primary use case is local LLMs. Any thoughts on the matter? I only use about 30$ a month of open router api credits so hard to justify $
@sudoingX "Your brain rewires " explain how a GPU running in your house vs a data centre rewires your brain. I'm all for local LLMs for privacy and control but brain rewiring is going a bit far.
@WritesToProfit You just gave us a guide on how to sell sales courses to coaches selling sales courses. It's a circular pyramid scheme and not actually real work that helps the world be a better place.
@RoundtableSpace Yeah but if you have a small machine you have to run a tiny version of Gemma 4 and it will suck. It sucked locally on my Mac mini m1 with 8gb ram. Had to go back to OpenRouter. I use cheap models like Gemini 3 flash which is significantly better.
@sudoingX I tried to run Hermes' agent with local AI on a 2020 Mac mini with 8gb ram with Gemma4 E4b . It started doing crazy things like making web searches for random topics I didn't ask for. Works a lot better with Gemini 3 flash. But overall my Claude Code extended with PAI is best.
@everestchris6 Where I live contractors arnt looking for work. They are denying most jobs because they don't have time to do the urgent work that exists in the community. If you are someone hoping to find a contractor to do work for you, good luck. Only way to get it is to seriously overpay.
@DSCKurapika @Japman_Bajaj I think the real problem is the unrealistic expectations, poor pay, and greedy economics built into the delivery platforms themselves - not the actual delivery drivers who are probably loosing money working to pay off a car loan they can't afford.
