Israeli officials and their supporters tried to cancel a Netflix film depicting the violence behind Israel's creation in 1948. But their efforts failed.

@Dena met up with "Farha" Director Darin Sallam to hear why she made the film and why it sparked a crisis for Israelis.

This Puerto Rican island was used by the U.S. Navy as a training ground for war over decades.

Today, half of Vieques is a toxic Superfund site because the Navy is still cleaning up their leftover bombs – by literally exploding them. @Dena reports.

I also feel strongly about this... I kept my name and have two kids. One kid has dad's name, the other has mine.

[Jill Filipovic @JillFilipovic]

I'm still surprised when full-grown women take their husband's last names, & I'm also surprised at how sticky patriarchal naming conventions have been for children. Very few kids get mom's last name only, even in an era with record numbers of single moms.
