Yesterday we lost a young, principled, and brilliant intellectual, Elleni Centime Zeleke.
If courage had a face it would look like Elleni. Her short but meaningful life on this planet is a reminder that life is profoundly unfair. But that was not the spirit she wanted to leave behind as she continued giving the best in her - her beautiful mind and her gentle soul - even when death was staring her in the eye. She was a testament to what strength and grace represented.
She now belongs to the ages, leaving behind a legacy larger than life, one that will not only sustain and inspire us for years to come, but also interrogate our souls as we begin cherishing her memories (Tizita) piece by piece and contemplating how to preserve the ideals and principles she held dear.
Rest in power, comrade Elleni! You are at peace and already missed! ❤️
Here’s a simple fact: If politicians stand with working families, working families will stand with you.
As it turns out, lowering the retirement age & raising the minimum wage are very popular.
Congratulations to the French Left for taking on right-wing extremism and winning.

So, if protesters can organize a peaceful concert in honor of the fallen, who were those other guys that showed up last week?

With youth unemployment hitting a record 20.4% in April 2023, fresh graduates in China are increasingly opting for civil servant jobs, seen as more stable compared to the uncertainty of the convoluted domestic job market.
The steep departure from a 'picture-perfect' narrative surrounding graduation hints at a rising disbelief in education as the pathway to success and perhaps a more relaxed attitude towards academic achievements as a whole.
This year, instead of the classic hat-throwing, flower-holding, and joyful smiles, Chinese students opted for defeated poses (with many literally just 'laying flat'), apocalyptic backgrounds, or purely sarcastic shots where they are seen throwing their graduation thesis.
