Study finds Thais consume nearly twice WHO's recommended sodium limit
Thais aged 15 and older consume an average of 3,650 milligrams of sodium a day, almost double the 2,000 mg daily limit recommended by the World Health Organization, according to a study.
The study by the Mahidol University Institute of Nutrition linked excessive sodium intake to higher risks of heart disease, hypertension, stroke and chronic kidney disease. It found the number of chronic kidney disease patients in Thailand rose from 1,046,072 in 2023 to 1,145,586 in 2025. The National Health Security Office spent more than 17 billion baht in 2025 to treat over 90,000 end-stage kidney disease patients under the Universal Coverage Scheme.
Researchers identified processed meat, processed seafood, stock cubes, sauces, seasonings, ready-to-eat meals and instant foods as priority categories for sodium reduction. The study recommends voluntary sodium reduction targets over a five-year period, along with updated food standards, clearer nutrition labelling and measures to encourage lower-sodium food production and consumption.

@Ajarncom I went to the immigration office to pick up the forms to fill them out. This year there’s a new one that has to be filled out by my wife and signed by a witness who cannot be a family member.
I also need the witness’s ID and an updated marriage certificate.

Eliminate U-turns and pedestrian bridges.
@Ajarncom Broadcasting rights are also necessary for summaries and delayed matches. Furthermore, in Thailand, many people wake up at 5 a.m. and start work at 8 a.m., while others, either for pleasure or work, stay up late into the night and into the early hours of the morning.
