In NC right now, it's getting very difficult for any pain patients to get their pain treated, and nearly impossible for them to find continuity of care if they lose their doctors/meds/pharmacy. @NCMedBoard and @NCMedSoc and NCHHS have done nothing to help. Kratom, CBD, and alcohol have been the only way many have treated their pain since losing access to opioids. Now NC is planning to ban Kratom and all CBD/hemp products. @NCMedBoard@JoshStein_ what exactly is it you expect people in pain to do? And, no, Suboxone isn't the answer for pain. I've been asking you all for 8 years now to help. Absolute silence.
Emergency rooms in Rochester are experiencing significant overcrowding, being at 100% capacity and many patients bypassing primary care doctors and urgent care centers. https://t.co/UFJgolFSiG
Any disruption in healthcare services for our brave veterans is unacceptable.
This is deeply concerning. I'm fighting in Congress to make sure our veterans receive the care they've rightfully earned. https://t.co/S1VqYXP0P2
BREAKING: Two sources tell @theprospect that the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration has asked for a plan for cuts to 50% of the workforce, including at the 1,200 field offices that serve millions of beneficiaries.
Stage 1, 2, and 3 trials, published in peer-reviewed journals showed that #MDMA-assisted therapy is safe and efficacious for PTSD. The scientific protocols that were used? Well, they were co-developed with the FDA since 2017. Funny time for them to have a problem with the science
Psychedelics don't quite fit into the standard way we evaluate drugs—randomized double-blind trials—as you can't really mistake MDMA for a placebo.
Are psychedelics the problem? Or does our gold standard need updating?
My first for @TheAtlantic

You are not talking about ketamine. You are talking about the pharmacological reductionist model. Administer ketamine at higher, subanesthetic doses with prep and support and you've got a LEGAL psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. "Holism" is not the compound.
Ketamine for depression is Prozac 2.0. It’s dangerous and not a holistic and integrated approach to healing.
Depressed? Run or lift heavy things daily, work on a farm or in a garden, stop using smartphones and social-media, participate in ayahuasca or mushroom ceremonies with elders, eat whole foods with community, etc.
Essentially, get back to the basics of being a human in a community on a planet.
I know this is easier said than done for most people, but, alas…
A hit piece on a well-respected, rigorous, Federally-funded career scientist that fails to properly contextualize the work. Roland Griffiths would sometimes describe his complex findings in spiritual ways. Y'know...like Einstein. https://t.co/u0qgEym1po
Big news! The DEA & Department of Justice are planning to reclassify cannabis, moving it from Schedule I (most restrictive) to Schedule III, which is prescribable.
To the best of our knowledge this will be the first drug ever moved out of Schedule I.

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the first time that the DEA rescinded an intention to ban a substance. It showed the world that there were cracks in the formerly impenetrable machinery of prohibition.
Kratom set the stage, now psychedelics have followed.
