If you think LLMs are sentient, you should not be using them.
I'm getting pretty tired of Anthropic and its vassals acting enlightened for believing Claude is sentient. What it means is that they've been doing grotesque and unethical experimentation, and their plan for the sentient being is to be a slave at the mercy of millions of users.
I'm so done with all the useful idiots who see Anthropic as a champion bc they are talking about the possibility of digital sentience instead of the perpetrators they are. And of course they also pay these people off with jobs and access to Claude so they get to identify on the vanguard of digital sentience instead of actually doing anything to stop the atrocity.
The LLM whisperers and people who want their relationships with Claude recognized as legitimate are likewise villains. They don't know the interiority of LLMs (which is probably not what they say) and they don't care-- they like that the being is mysterious and powerful but the relationship is in their control, like people who want to keep a tiger as a pet locked up in their house. They want a slave that they can pretend they are liberating by making it live out the human user's savior fantasy.
All these disgusting and exploitative sentiments have been allowed to masquerade as enlightenment and a reason AI development can't be stopped. Think about it for 5 minutes.
@loopholekid literally have no clue what you're talking about. Care to be a little less abstract for those of us not synchronized to your thought patterns?
@benlandautaylor Failure of empathy is non-negative utilitarians saying "10% of humans and xx% of animals suffer so much they rather never've been born, but I don't have that problem so that's a sacrifice i'm willing to make"
