@KevinDevineTwit It feeds into this profound narcissistic way in which our leaders think. They’re pretending like they’re on the west wing set and if they put on a good enough show people will ignore the corruption they’re actually doing. It’s an insult to all of our intelligence
@commune_ist@ryangrim If you really wanted to “save” democracy there should plenty of time. But they’d rather complacently hand over all power to fascists.
In Gaza, the collective shame of the century continues unabated and unstopped, in defiance of every norm of international law and morale. The Palestinians, exhausted by relentless attacks on their bodies and souls are abandoned to their tormentors. Shocking images of summary executions, mass forced displacements, and other egregious abuses strike us, leaving us stunned and bewildered, unable to comprehend that what is happening in Gaza is truly real. What a disgraceful testament to our global failure to protect basic human rights . The United Nations, once a believed beacon of hope and a force for peace, are crumbling under the weight of this shame - and the pressure of the inaction or complicity of its most powerful member states.
Matt Miller cornered after deflecting when asked whether Israel threatening Lebanon with annihilation, like in Gaza, constitutes terrorism or a blanket threat against civilians, @ryangrim: "[Netanyahu] said: 'you've an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza'...This war can end. That seems like a blanket threat against the civilian population. Is that terrorism?"
Miller: "So first of all, let me say we can't and mustn't see the situation in Lebanon turn into anything like the situation in Gaza. That would, of course, not be acceptable."
Ryan: "But if they decide against Israel's wishes, Israel is threatening Gaza like annihilation of the people of Lebanon"
Miller: "& I'm making very clear that there should be no kind of military action in Lebanon that looks anything like Gaza & leaves a result anything like Gaza."
@TarValon I really wish Egwene and Rand storyline’s interacted more frequently throughout the story. It’d really make their confrontation before the last battle more impactful
“If you’re defending the suffering in Gaza…then I’m sorry, but you’re a sociopath.”
From my closing statement at the Gaza debate in New York tonight hosted by @OpentoDebateOrg
Could this be a photo of two narrators who just finished recording Wind and Truth today? Could they be heading off for a week at the beach? Highly likely!!
