Super excited to be starting my second six at @cornerstonebarr today! I can now accept instructions. I have experience in public law, human rights and civil liberties, housing and homelessness, welfare benefits, planning and environment, FOIA and GDPR.

🧵 We are dealing with increasing numbers of out-of-London PRS homeless offers to increasingly distant locations. A short thread on how our advice to homeless families when dealing with these offers has evolved.
As it is #NationalWalkingMonth, this is a good time to announce that we are participating in the Oxford Legal Walk on 5 July.
The event raises money for legal advice agencies and charities in Oxfordshire.

We are proud to share that our former colleague, @angharadmamonk, has been ranked by Legal 500 as 'Rising Star' in the Social Housing category. Angharad is a formidable advocate and a brilliant lawyer. Her ranking is well deserved! #SocialHousing#Legal500#LCToday
For @ukcla, I assess the constitutionality of Clause 9 Nationality & Borders Bill (power to deprive citizenship without notice) from a comparative perspective. Compared to Australia and New Zealand, clause 9 is broader, more draconian, yet provides fewer constitutional safeguards
‼️ UPDATE ‼️ Zambrano EUSS: The SSHD has been granted permission to appeal to Court of Appeal - to be heard before end of year. Applicants will have minimum 6 weeks from date Home Office change their policy - not from deadline of 30 June 2021* - to submit EUSS applications. 1/3
The Akinsanya case returns to the High Court on 17 June to decide if Home Office must extend the 30 June 2021 deadline for Zambrano cases to apply under the EU Settlement Scheme. #LCToday#HumanRights#EUSS
Today the High Court declared that the Home Office's exclusion of certain types of Zambrano carer from EUSS is unlawful. The Home Secretary had misadvised herself that EU law prevented the Zambrano right from arising if that person had limited leave to remain. #LCToday 1/4
Our submissions to the Independent Review of Administrative Law received special mention in the report. At 4.67-4.70 the Panel mentions them as being exemplary of a general trend of JRs being settled in pre-action stage. Thank you to @JOgilvieHarris for drafting #LCToday 1/2
UC claimants have been left with little to live on due to DWP’s inflexible policy of always deducting the maximum rate where there is a fine. The High Court ruled that this is unlawful. Fantastic team effort and great to work with @HackneyLawCentr ⚖️ Judgment to follow soon...
High Court has found that the DWP's blanket policy on a max rate of deduction for fines from our client's Universal Credit is unlawful. Our client was left unable to afford basic necessities as a result of the policy and the DWP had refused to lower the amount of deductions 1/2
