My team shipped the most difficult (and longest) project of my career in the last few weeks. We migrated the frontend bundler for Jira (5M+ src lines) from Webpack to @parceljs, and customers (mostly) didn’t notice.
@peetersn@Jira Jira is not just one product, it’s a huge surface area - all that code isn’t for one route! As a company we’re always working on perf - whether that’s through deleting code, writing more efficient code, having the bundler optimise the outputs, or any other approach.
We don’t believe we could’ve done this with any other bundler out there right now.
Does working on these kinds of
Projects challenges sound interesting? We’re hiring in AU/NZ: https://t.co/bxoDSHYPru
DM me for any details!
We helped to build/rebuild large parts of Parcel along the way to scale to our needs
Builds are much faster, the runtime is slightly faster, and we’re only just getting started with what we can do with Parcel as the bundling platform at @Atlassian.
@benno37 I wonder if they would’ve taken early money if there was an environment at the time where there were investors around who had already cashed out of previous tech companies looking for seed/early round opportunities.
I guess that’s not a commercial accelerator though.
@itsradiomike Notifications without getting phone out, payments without needing cards or phone, asking Siri to set timers when cooking, Dick Tracy-ing calls when my phone isn’t convenient to answer.. and, the basics like telling the time, fitness tracking.
Definitely a luxury, but I like it!
