Breaking: Earth will have a temporary mini-moon for two months.
A small asteroid, designated '2024 PT5,' will be captured by Earth's gravity later this month. This brief but fascinating phenomenon will begin on September 29 and last until November 25. During that period, this asteroid will orbit Earth briefly before continuing its journey through the solar system.
Here’s the time-lapse I promised you from yesterday’s solar activity. Complete with Earth to scale and a bonus of the sun’s rotation.
This is easily one of my cleanest time-lapses I’ve managed over such a long period. Enjoy!
