Britain has every right to defend itself against Islamist extremism and to control its borders. Yet this government continues to pursue immigration policies that many British people believe are far too permissive, while appearing unwilling to confront the consequences for integration, security and social cohesion. Calling people racist or extremist for raising these concerns is not an answer. Government should listen to the electorate, enforce the law and put the interests and security of the British public first.

While our Prime Minister was making videos about which pork scratchings he likes best, Sir Jim Ratcliffe was rescuing Runcorn from the effects of the government’s own energy policy.

This plant helps keep our drinking water safe and supplies the chemicals used in medicines, power cables, pipes and homes.

Lose that capacity and Britain becomes dependent on foreign suppliers for the essentials of our daily lives.

Britain cannot make everything. But no serious country allows energy costs and carbon taxes to destroy its last domestic source of critical materials.

Why have barbers been left off this list? The public is equally concerned about the unexplained proliferation of barbershops. Where there is evidence of money laundering, tax evasion, illegal working or other criminality, they should face the same scrutiny as vape shops, betting shops and every other business - regardless of the owners’ religion, ethnicity or immigration status.

Why do we need more prison places if crime rates are down?

According to the Mayor of London, crime rates in London have significantly fallen.

However, Muslim prisoners represent approximately 18% of the total prison population in England and Wales, according to Ministry of Justice data. This is a significant over-representation, as Muslims make up about 6.5% of the general population.
