It is important that the new law is implemented in accordance with the intent of the legislature. #SB205 which I authored requires additional compensation to be paid to public school teachers when additional overtime duties on campus are required or their 45 minute uninterrupted planning period, currently required by state law, is not given.

When you read #ACT311, the words are very clear, “to provide additional compensation for overtime work and for work beyond prescribed duties under certain circumstances…”

The legislature has made it clear that not paying teacher for additional work is unacceptable. I look forward to reviewing the new supplemental salary schedules being implemented in school district statewide across Louisiana as required under the new law. #lagov #lalege #educators #teachers #onelouisiana
