@jackieb12902590 Lots of other paper was hoarded (or stored). The police commented on this in their Hummingbird documentary - that they weren't expecting to have thousands of papers and digital records to go through
@NickBarberX@letbymoj@AlexCutter86 McGuigan's testimony specifies that datixes and debriefs were used to document and investigate unexpected collapses at Crewe. We know that this was not the case at Chester. So we really can't glean much from the comparison, even before considering conditions in each hospital
@Dogbox19@AlekseyPotemkin@mervynpervyn@Hermelientje2@DavidKn56173324@ClarkeMicah He frequently says that. It's a red herring. Most cases he was given were from consultants trying to pique police interest in Letby. Then they dropped any findings where she wasn't on duty. So why would it matter that they didn't give her name early on? Irrelevant.
@SkallaPhil84600 Because the police told her that, withholding the testimony of the other nurses. *Accepted that" is doing a lot of lifting there. It was the same with Baby K. LL accepted the testimony of other staff as related to her by police where she couldn't remember detail herself.
@DarrenVoxbox@AlekseyPotemkin@doctorcaldwell They weren't terribly experienced teams though, were they? About 3 deaths a year until they took on more acute cases in 2015, 7 pediatricians taking equal shares on the NICU so nobody building the specialism. They won't have seen that many infants in extremis from any cause.
@SkallaPhil84600 Sure. But testimony from Nurse W and Mel Taylor (eventually), contradicted Ellis's account of events that night. Fairly shaky, as I said.
@SkallaPhil84600 Testimony putting her cotside at the right times for babies C, D, G, K, M for example, is pretty thin. For babies F and L it's non existent. But the cases were submitted by consultants accusing her, so it was usually possible to construct the necessary narrative
@fuelmeupcc@spikedonline Not quite. Hawdon looked at clinical notes & was left with 5 unexplained cases. She then received the pathologists' reports & was satisfied with 1. She recommended pathologist review the other 4. In the end, this left 1 with cause of death unascertained, an occasional finding
@brianoflan46772@Adri98851740@Politic56721677@JohnJDrumm1 That's fair. I think @Politic56721677 has picked up on one important point - the line where Ferguson mentions all of the tests needs context - all of which texts. It's useful to be aware of this limitation on the documentary and he's done great work too checking the sources
@Prime_number82@Politic56721677 Numbers born at Chester dropped significantly - no more risky births planned there. The most vulnerable babies weren't there to be transferred out any more. Some nonetheless transferred out and died - certainly in double digits by the time the court was told only one death since
@gill1109@eigermonk This walking through walls is how Lucy Letby got around the swipe card data, you say? Maybe Cheshire Constabulary would hire you as an expert after all
@Politic56721677@brianoflan46772@JohnJDrumm1 There's certainly a part where he says in all the cases, there was air. Unfortunately that's an isolated sentence - so I'd assume he has already indicated in all cases where investigated. (Because the bit where he points at the screen doesn't imply he's referring to all cases).
@Politic56721677@brianoflan46772@JohnJDrumm1 That's what the review is called, but Ferguson makes it absolutely clear they are discussing eight venous cases, because arterial cases will have a different mechanism depending where air has entered the circulation.
@Politic56721677@JohnJDrumm1 But you would not necessarily expect heart air from an arterial incl pulmonary arterial air embolism. If a patient dies from e.g. cerebral air you won't look for or expect to find air in heart. Evans and Ferguson were discussing venous cases where this is to be expected.
@Politic56721677@brianoflan46772@JohnJDrumm1 1) You are conflating venous air embolism with other phenomenona here. 2) If a phenomenon isn't investigated at autopsy (or no autopsy) that doesn't mean it didn't happen. All you can do is point out that in a sample of x, y had the investigation, and z/y showed positive result
