I completely agree. I have been exposed to the negative environments but I don’t actually have any information I am sitting on and not sharing outside of one person who stole money from me directly but it was so long ago I just am protecting my peace by cutting her out of my life a long time ago. I try my best to not surround myself with those kinds of people. I have a lot of secondhand stories I’ve heard that are not mine to share but I try to encourage people to come out with them but they are not my stories to tell because I didn’t see it firsthand.
💯 I’m glad you didn’t let the bad apples sour you on the game. Poker is too great a game to let scummy people ruin it for you or anyone else. The environment was less predatory when I first started. I hope new players just discovering the game can find a safer, more enjoyable scene to play in.
I love poker. I stepped away from the public poker scene for a while because I saw enough behind the scenes to know who & what I wanted no part of.
But I never stopped playing.
Great games exist. Great people exist. I just choose my games and my company very carefully now.
