Delighted to welcome @TheEYBA to @QUBelfast, where NI’s legal profession showcased its innovation and growing global influence from defamation, to sport, to human rights to AI.
I spoke on “Are we all environmental lawyers now?” (A: yes!) — proudly supported by @Tughans_News.
A great start to #NIEnergySummit with Professor Rooney outlining the strengths of NI to meet climate change goals
Minister Caoimhe Archibald outlined the steps her Department are taking. She emphasised the importance of putting local people at the heart of the transition
In today’s @PlannerMag_RTPI I set out preliminary views on the A5 Judgment. It’s important to acknowledge the loss of life on the existing A5, this is clearly an emotive subject matter and the article merely scratches the surface of a 101 page judgment. https://t.co/hkwF13qTXK
A great day out yesterday at the @ThePlannerM Women of Influence 2025 Reception in London recognising the 55 most influential women in planning. It was wonderful to meet such a diverse group of women from across the spectrum of planning disciplines.
@skyethespringer@LinkedIn@SIslandmageenrg This case only relates to screening when an Environmental Impact Assessment is required (and will be persuasive but not binding in NI). However it does mean more projects will be likely to require the greater scrutiny that comes with an EIA (although as we know EIA is imperfect)
@Conor__Fegan Whilst grid capacity and restrictions are the major issue, it will be interesting to see what the CJEU make of the referral from the Irish Supreme Court in respect of the dispatch down compensation rules.
Proud to see @Tughans_News topping the @Experian league table for the tenth year in a row!
The Planning & Environmental team is always delighted to support deals that shape Northern Ireland’s future. I’ll raise a glass to that!
@mccleangreen It’s just been launched today in the Dutch Courts - so it could be some time but I’d guess at least a year. It wouldn’t be binding on uk or NI courts but it might be a case that ultimately goes up to the to the European court given the issues.
Interesting to see the outcome of Greenpeace’s legal action against US energy group testing new EU freedom of speech rules - SLAPPs against environmental campaigners is having a chilling effect so this will be an important case regardless of the outcome.
