#RUCHEALTH2019 Since exercise is intertwined with our health on various levels and not just keeping us in shape, I thought you might find this article to be very interesting since it looks at the benefits on the heart as a swimmer vs. a runner, both of which are intense workouts.
The findings of a new study that looked at the heart of a swimmer vs. the heart of a runner underscored how sensitive our bodies are to different types of exercise
@deedee4610#RUCHEALTH2019 I think pets are a great form of therapy. They bring comfort & joy & give peace that at times, you can't get from any other human. Pets are used in many therapies from working with individuals with disabilities to giving a sense of calm to students during exams.
#RUCHEALTH2019 With regards to exercise and with all things considered, which do you think is better; working out at home or working out at the gym? Why do you fell that way?
@rlg160scarletm1 That's one thing I've learned in several of my science classes and other medical trainings I've had to do; sanitizers are good but washing of hands are best! I always wash my hands and stay away from anyone having the flu. I also get the flu shots every year & load up on vit. c
#RUCHEALTH2019 I think they should. There are many health issues that begins in school. Its important, perhaps even vital to teach the kids about good health practices and its importance. They spend a lot of time there, touch many shared items & share many things in school.
@mariaca84059093 So true! You have to deal with them everyday because they are family, you can't just walk away. Unlike a significant other, you can decide to stop the stress and move on and never have to deal with them again. #RUCHEALTH2019
#RUCHEALTH2019 What are you thoughts on showing expectant mothers who are more susceptible to alcohol, raw images of the damages that this could cause to their baby? Do you think this will deter the habit during those months of pregnancy? Why or why not?
@BoarderApM#RUCHEALTH2019 That is true, a stressful day is one factor that affects our sleep pattern. I also know that some medications and health conditions play a role into this. For example, people with Autism have issues with their sleep and have difficulty sleeping through the night.
#RUCHealth2019 What are your thoughts about substance abuse? Do you think learned helplessness, genetics, the environment or a combination of each contribute to this crisis? Why do you feel the way you do?
@SolRubi4 I absolutely agree with this view point Solrubi. Before this class, I barely made time for myself but thanks to this class, I'm starting to rethink that. Having that 'me time' is very important to our health, not just our mental health. #RUCHEALTH2019
#RUCHealth2019 Mindfulness is important and should be addressed more often but sadly, that is not the case. Do you think the medical world should be talking more about mindfulness? What are some ways to make mindfulness an important part of our lives?
@MartiaMarshall#RUCHealth2019 I have and I think its a very good strategy to use. Making decisions in the heat of the moment or when we're in a rush is a very bad thing to do.
@MaquedaMurray Maybe being creative when preparing their meals & if possible, involving them in the process will get them to be more excited about eating. Let them experiment with different foods. Plating their meals can also be important I think, especially for very young kids. #RUCHealth2019
#RUCHEALTH2019 What are some health benefits of working out? Also, do you agree that not just food but working out can lower your LDL cholesterol and triglyceride and increase your HDL cholesterol? What are your thoughts?
#RUCHEALTH2019 So, this is true. We've known this for years, that the Mediterranean diet is one of the best, if not the best diet in the world. My question is, why are most of the world's centenarians living in Asia and not in Europe?
#RUCHEALTH2019 This is an article worth reading! You might want to share the information with love ones who are suffering from hypertension. Sometimes, its the little things that make that biggest impact. Dive in!!
People who take their blood pressure meds at night instead of in the morning may reduce their risk of dying from a heart attack, stroke or heart failure by half, a large new study finds. https://t.co/Kuf5SzEknw
@farzana4eva I concur Farzana. People do not pay much attention to this but it would be so helpful if we did because mental health, physical health and mindfulness are intertwined. #RUCHEALTH2019
