@EoinLenihan It was the best, Ireland was fab, people who had emigrated in the 80s were returning bringing the benefits of their experience abroad, setting up businesses etc. We had left behind decades of misery. Maastricht Treaty and the formation of EU in 1993 for me marked a turning point
@PaulTreyvaud Yep 2007 all over again, overly dependent on shaky job sectors, nothing done to support Irish businesses, US at war again, the drop in revenue tax take is just around the corner once the US jobs start going. We’re about 12 months away from a massive kick in the arse.
@Nick_Delehanty I bring them back only because I see one of our new arrivals fishing them out of the recycling bin and profiting from it, it’s a regular thing every morning, he’s got a special stick for the job, hides it underneath the bin.
@Thisisdublin0 Have they lost the cruise ships business in Dun Laoghaire or something? What a sight to behold for any tourists coming onshore, the local business community must be delighted with this craic.
@PaulTreyvaud Remember 2007? Are we there again despite all the “lessons learned”. About a year away from a crash? AI in the mix. Bertie on national tv saying economists should kill themselves because our economy was grand and they were spoiling the party.Remind you of anyone else recently?
@laoisedebrun This story is haunting me, was that poor woman fully compos mentis? I read somewhere that she had begun to reconsider her decision in the past few weeks but was told it was too late, organs were already committed, that may not be true but somehow seems likely.
