I feel for Rey Fenix and his frustrations about not getting the same opportunities as Penta. But when Fenix debuted, WWE gave him the big entrance, the pyro, and the same initial chances that Penta got. The difference is that Penta instantly connected with the crowd. His charisma, the Zero Miedo catchphrase, and even the fan handshakes made him CONNECT right away.
That doesn't mean Rey Fenix isn't insanely talented, because he absolutely is. I just think he gets over in a different way. Penta grabs you with personality first, while Fenix shines through what he does in the ring.
With how stacked WWE is right now, they’ll give you opportunities, but if someone catches fire faster, they’ll naturally lean into that. Look at Trick Williams, Je'Von Evans, and Oba Femi. They connected with fans immediately, so WWE kept pushing them forward.
I still think there’s a big role for Fenix. They may just need to present him differently, similar to what they’ve done with Dragon Lee. Put him in the mix with top talent, let him steal the show in the ring, and the crowd will eventually rally behind him that way.
