Imagine screwing up billions of dollars of transit infrastructure and then blaming bike lanes for congestion. Audacious.

The Province has spent $12.8 billion on 19 km of LRT that is currently built, but unused, unopened.

But sure, bike lanes are the problem.

One of the things that may seem like a small thing, but when you consider that our library system has 2.8 million users - making it one of the most well used and celebrated library systems in the world, you start to realize this is a big thing:

I was at City Hall when libraries were closed on Sundays due to budget cuts. I found this baffling. We were in the process of building several new libraries, and shortening the hours on the ones we already had. The buildings and the books and the computers and the community resources and the librarians already existed - but we shut down the hours of operation to save a few operating bucks. Seemed so short sighted. So...mean.

Well in @MayorOliviaChow's first budget, she's opening libraries on Sundays. And extending hours. The nearly decade-long hiatus is over.

This is an investment in our quality of life.

Cycling in Toronto has become more fun since Covid scared many out of public transit onto bikes. The protected bike lanes improve safety so much.

@DrKateTO If the vaccine protects you from the worst symptoms of covid, help me understand how someone who isn’t vaccinated (maybe for a good reason), is of any concern to you? You can still pass covid to them, and it is they who take the risk.
