Our plan for the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transport system is the perfect solution to the traffic congestion and gridlock that face our capital city and the environs.

Already, the Nairobi City County Government has given the necessary approvals for the first phase of the project, a 30km underground railway line linking densely populated parts of Eastlands and the Central Business District and comprising 25 stations.

This will be the beginning of the establishment of a multi-modal transport system, featuring bus rapid transit and commuter rail, to move nearly 5 million city residents who make more than 12 million trips to and fro every day.

Briefed on the progress of the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transport system project at State House Nairobi by Transport ministry and Nairobi County officials led by Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Did the meaning of getting cancelled change? What is with these broiler influencers who got many followers during the finance bill and now when people don’t agree with them they call it cancelling.

If you can’t survive or your social media influence can’t survive beyond people saying “Ignore this guy let us unfollow him” you are not supposed to be there. You and a broiler that was injected to grow in one day are not different.

Some of us can give you examples of what cancelling is.

For instance in 2018 I was suspended from Twitter until 2023 when Elon Musk bought Twitter and gave some of us amnesty.

In the same year my Facebook page with more than 600000 subscribers was suspended for life.

As I was jumping to Instagram to rant Instagram was hit.

But I survived only through my blog and Telegram where I focused on content.

I tried several times to come back to Twitter and I am that guy who used to fetch more than 30000 followers whenever I created a new account to make a comeback but enemies would report me for evading permanent suspension.

On Twitter alone more than seven accounts with 100000 followers that I tried to create were cancelled.

As that happened the Communication Authority realised I was very active on my blog and DDoS attacks meaning deliberate flooding of a site to knock it offline and takedown requests increased.

In fact the best time of my blogging was when I didn’t have social media accounts. I felt I became a better blogger and did a lot of research. Social media sometimes wastes time and energy. I could read a lot to get the right tone for my articles. This is also the time my blog was read heavily sometimes by 100000 readers a day.

Now when people talk about cancelling they don’t know what they are saying.

Many of you here cannot survive if your accounts are suspended because it is not easy. I have been there and I know that.

When people disagree with you or dismiss you that is not cancelling.

Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.
