Meet some of our senior researchers in the programme!
Our researchers work across different areas of the marine world and these researchers look at a mixture of turtle ecology, shark genomics, oceanography and social science
@HosegoodPhil@Its_Shaili#MarineScience#Scientists
Our Indian Ocean marine science programme supports established researchers and has a major focus on training the next generation of ocean scientists. A big congratulations to all our recent PhD Graduates for 2024!

In 2024 scientists from the Marine Science Programme published 39 papers, bringing the total number of published papers to 213 since 2017.Of the 39, five were published in journals with an “excellent” impact factor (>10) & a further 24 in journals with a “good” impact factor (>3)
Marine scientists underpin all our research and conservation efforts.
Our Marine Science Programme focuses on the Indian Ocean Region with project partners across the region and beyond. We work with 96 scientists from 23 institutions in 9 countries.
Our Programme seeks to maximise the visibility, accessibility & useability of all data collected by our project teams. We have partnered with the Harvard Data Repository to create a data collection to store & manage large quantities of data of all kinds.

Happy World Ocean Day! The theme this year is 'Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate'
These are some of our Marine Science Programme 2024 highlights and we’re excited to see how we can improve on these in 2025 and use science to inform conservation action.

Our scientists study a wide range of species, some of which are classed as ‘Endangered’ or ‘Critically Endangered’ by the IUCN Redlist
Today is #EndangeredSpeciesDay and we want to share just some of the incredible endangered species our programme has the privilege of studying
Our networking tools for ECOPs continue to grow!
We are very excited to share that ECOP Asia has a brand new resource on its page, a georeferenced map designed to highlight key ocean stakeholders, projects, and initiatives across Asia.
