1/A few years into my career, I started a quiet game at #ASCO. I would stop at a poster, read the title, and try to work out what the team actually had going for them. Do this for the past 5 years and a pattern appears:

¿Cuáles son las claves para crecer profesionalmente?
Esto es lo que he aprendido a lo largo de varias décadas, es una charla de 30 minutos que he dado hoy en el Club @informacion_es en Infosalud
Ojalá alguien me hubiera dado esta charla a los 18 años

Amazing seeing such a strong presence from KU residents at #DDW2026. Truly proud to work with such hardworking, and motivated colleagues, future shining stars in GI.
Special thanks to our incredible PD, Dr. Buckles.

Abstract Factory—Research Culture Harming Medical Education
The "abstract factory" is destroying medical education. Trainees and junior faculty compete with abstract counts instead of meaningful research. Result: inflated CVs, diluted conferences. We shouldn't celebrate this—you don't need publications to be a great doctor.

✅✅ A reminder by Dr. Rahaf Ajaj:
She wasn’t on the Stanford list… but she made it to the Nobel stage. 🏅
Mary E. Brunkow, one of this year’s Nobel Prize winners in Medicine, has only 34 published papers and an H-index of 21.
She never appeared in Stanford’s ranking of the world’s top 2% of scientists.
She didn’t chase citations, metrics, or the spotlight.
Yet, she became part of a discovery that changed how humanity understands the immune system.
Today, while many are busy chasing numbers, titles, and rankings —
she reminds us what truly matters in science: the question.
🔹 She wasn’t running after the lists.
🔹 She was running after the truth.
Because in the end, it’s not about how many papers you publish…
It’s about how deeply your idea can reshape the world.
Focus on your idea, not your ranking.
