I feel like the @FrankensteinGDT adaptation by @RealGDT is going to be one of those movies that kickstarts people’s love of literature, specifically in Mary Shelley.
I had that experience with Jane Austen in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice when I was 11.

Final thought (maybe) of the day about @FrankensteinGDT is the film ends with the Creature walking into the sunlight—soaking it in the way Victor taught him, the first thing his father taught him, the first goodness he felt in the world—before beginning his life without Victor.

There’s something about the Creature in @FrankensteinGDT directed by @RealGDT being portrayed by an actor both physically and visually younger than Victor’s. I can’t explain it (especially because I’m not finished). But it adds to the visual storytelling for sure.

The visuals of the film were AMAZING, and del Toro’s films have always used color beautifully. But having the Creature being played by a physically and visually younger actor than the other characters really drives home the point of generational trauma and parent-child relations.
