The continued use of rubber bullets and police violence against protesting students further exposes the government’s complete failure and reveals its calls for dialogue as nothing more than a political farce, rather than a genuine path towards solutions.
All the sanctions the government is threatening to impose on protesters violate fundamental human rights and freedoms. Unless, of course, the government has replaced the judiciary.
Police violence cannot answer political questions. You can’t disperse a protest, and you cannot disperse an entire generation’s frustration. Albania’s students are demanding a future, not a confrontation. Silence cannot restore public trust.

Today, the Prime Minister brought chairs outside his office for dialogue, while the seats in Parliament remain empty.
The very institution meant to hold the government accountable has suspended its work when the country needs it most.
I call on the Speaker of Parliament to urgently convene a session and summon the Prime Minister to answer for the current crisis.
The students have made their demands clear. Political dialogue belongs in Parliament, not on chairs outside the Prime Minister’s office.
Parliament cannot abandon its responsibility when the country needs it most.
🇪🇺🇦🇱 We are proud to announce @MarianaKoceku1 , Albanian MP, as our special guest at the European Democratic Party Congress in Athens!
Independent Member of the Albanian Parliament, Marjana has become a supporting voice for the Flamingos movement and #Albania’s young protesters within the country’s institutions. She has brought their demands to Parliament, denounced the violent repression of protests by Edi Rama’s government, and called for concrete answers to the aspirations of Albania’s younger generations.
The Final Countdown has begun. It’s Time for Europe.

I have visited hospitals and police stations where students and minors were reportedly left unconscious for hours without medical assistance. Families were denied information about their whereabouts. These allegations demand immediate, independent investigation.
For five days, I have witnessed deeply disturbing scenes in Albania. Students and minors with broken legs, head injuries and fractured skulls. Young people beaten, hospitalised and left without adequate protection. This is happening in a country aspiring to join the EU.
I am deeply concerned by the escalating situation in Albania. Local authorities must refrain from aggression against peaceful protesters, and everyone on the ground must work to deescalate and prevent further violence.
Michigan is home to a strong and vibrant Albanian American community, and I know these developments are very personal for many Michiganders. The Albanian people deserve a government that respects their fundamental rights and upholds the rule of law. That’s why I will continue to advocate for peace and justice for all Albanians.
