On MFM I asked Scott Galloway how much money it actually takes to feel economically secure. He gave me the formula and then his own number.

- Take what you need to be happy each year. Times it by 25. Assume a 4% post-tax return. That's your number.
- His own burn: $300k to $400k a month.
- $5m a year times 25 means he needs $125m to be economically secure.

He said in his 20s he thought if he ever saved $1m he was done, he'd start writing scripts for Tom Cruise movies. Then he found out how expensive kids, New York, and your own greed glands get.

My best friend went to MIT and graduated first in his class for mechanical engineering. He then went on to get his doctorate at MIT in materials engineering.

He indicated that the biggest problem at MIT was that everyone wanted to create apps.

Meanwhile, he built a company dedicated to developing vapor-deposited polymer coatings for industrial thermal systems. Huge application in power plants, sugar factories, etc.

Couldn't get the funding.

I was sitting in a crowded coffee shop this morning and witnessed a masterclass in fatherhood that I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

A young boy, maybe 6 years old, accidentally knocked a massive, bright blue ICEE off the table. It was a disaster, sticky syrup everywhere, on the floor, the chairs, the works.

The kid looked up at his dad, shoulders hunched, clearly waiting for the hammer to drop. I’ve seen this play out a thousand times where the parent loses their cool because of the inconvenience.

Instead, the dad didn't even raise his voice. He just looked at the mess and said:

"Hey, it happens, Let's go grab some napkins and I’ll show you how we fix this."

They spent the next five minutes cleaning it up together. No lecturing, no shaming, Just a team effort.

But it was what the dad said while they were throwing away the trash that really hit me. He looked his son in the eye and said:

"You’re going to be a human being for a long time, and you’ve got a smart brain. It’s important to learn how to be aware of your surroundings so we can prevent accidents, but it’s still okay when they happen. As long as you take responsibility, the cleanup is always the easy part."

Then, as they sat back down, he added one more thing: "And remember, big messes can feel overwhelming when you're alone. Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it."

As someone whose own kids are now grown and out in the world, I realized I was watching a man build a person, not just manage a child.

We spend so much time worrying about "discipline" that we forget our main job is to teach them how to handle life when it gets messy.

If that’s the next generation of fathers, we’re going to be just fine.

The most powerful media companies are social networks where everyone argues with strangers for free.

Kids are making millions filming themselves playing video games.

AI Robots write emails, code, legal memos, songs, essays, and breakup texts.

The internet is mostly bots arguing with humans who are trying to prove they aren’t bots.

You can summon a car, groceries, a doctor, a date, a private jet, or a dog walker from your phone.

People pay real money for invisible currencies, digital monkeys, AI girlfriends and pictures that disappear after 24 hours.

The richest companies in the world don’t sell oil, steel, or cars. They sell attention, compute, data, and addiction.

And somehow, after all of that everyone is still using Excel.
