@drakesmith__ Yes, I use the line too.
Two things I've found
1. It allows me to know my face is square to the intended line.
2. When I set the line of the ball on my intended line, I go back a few feet to see if it's correct. Much easier to see the lines matching by looking from further away.
@BryanTweed16 I used to play there in qualifiers as a junior and amateur player.
Those pictures bring back some great memories.
The course never looked that "polished" back 50 years ago, I can assure you!
Thanks for sharing!
@drakesmith__ That's quite a journey!
Each day brings new opportunities, new learning and the ability to change other people's golfing lives for the better in the process.
Enjoy the ride Sir!
@MidwestGolfJake The fastest way to lower scores is to:
1. Eliminate 3-putts
2. Eliminate penalty strokes
3. Eliminate double chips
If you can do two of these three, your scores will come down.
All three? You probably shot your best round!
Keep track and you'll realize how hard it is to do!
@minombrejonas@SethRaynor_ Just for the record, I've walked for 58 years.
That's over 30,000 miles walking golf courses all over the world.
I know the difference between weight that is not necessary.
Enjoy your heavier bags. They're very nice.
But one day you'll wake up to taking the smarter approach.
@spursup69 The key is the toe box of the shoe.
Too narrow and you'll suffer greatly, especially if you're a walker.
Too wide and you'll lose the support you need for your swing.
Try on as many brands as possible to find the fit that's best for you.
@SamaHoole The Big Lie:
"Safe and effective."
Not always safe, not always effective.
Informed consent is key.
Ask, "Where did you get your information about ___ drug?"
It's likely from an attractive Pharma saleswoman.
If so, then run!
Do your own research.
You'll be glad you did.
@NUCLRGOLF Putting wherever possible.
Arnold Palmer once told Jack Nicklaus, "On average, you'll putt closer than you can chip it. Putt whenever possible."
It's the best advice any amateur could employ.
Do practice putting from off the green to get comfortable with the idea.
Then go!
@NUCLRGOLF The biggest factor in all of this is the sense of "entitlement" some people bring to the course.
You are correct, golf is not meant to be played at a snail's pace.
Whenever I hear that comment, I know that person is an idiot.
They should play in the UK and find out the truth.
@drakesmith__ Yes, I agree.
For some, me being one, taking practice strokes leads to thinking about the stroke itself and diverts attention from seeing the putt/target.
@BowTied_Golfer For those who love history...
The Bobby Jones Room at Atlanta Athletic Club gets my vote.
The original Grand Slam trophies (zoom in to see them) never get old to look at. @atlantaathclub
