ALAN is one of my hometown heroes. When I was just a lad taking drum lessons upstairs from Hermie's Music Store, downtown Schenectady NY, Alan was downstairs dealing with customers, mainly guitarists. By 1985 he and his band "TRIFFID" were local 518 heroes on the thriving live music club scene at the time. I was too young to get in but my older brother had their debut CD and I used to rock out to it all the time.

The band broke up in the early '90s but then reunited decades later for this great show in 2017! "Shapes Of Things" is an example of a '60s classic made MUCH better by the late Gary Moore and Alan covers Moore's version most faithfully both guitar and vocals! I think I shall sing this at karaoke on wednesday!

Everybody knows the heinous Lindsay Clancy crime, but some of you younger generation may not recall what I recall as the first case of "filicide" I've ever heard of, that being the SUSAN SMITH case from October 1994, in Union, SC, where she strapped her 2 boys, 3yr old Michael and 14mo old Alex, into their car seats and let her car roll down a boat ramp into John D. Long Lake, where they drowned. She initially claimed a black man carjacked her at gunpoint and abducted the car with the boys inside, sparking a massive 9 day national man hunt before she confessed! In 1995, she was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. After serving 30 years, she was eligible for a parole hearing and was unanimously DENIED release by the SC parole board.

My pop John with his lifelong pal and my lifelong pal also "Bobby" Graham (red suspenders) pulling some nice lake trout out of Lake Ontario in 2003. Helen -Bob's wife in the middle. All three of them have passed on and I'm lookin' forward to seeing them all on the other side.
