@gareth_metcalfe Not so much depth but a variation in clock face is useful. Perhaps not in this activity but across the board it's good to have the exposure to the same concept in different scenarios... So essentially that's two unrelated points but yeah 👍🏻
Now finished I See Reasoning for Y5 and Y6 (both out Sunday). Between them, 758 tasks (compared to 176 from I See Reasoning - UKS2). But more than that, so many new ideas and techniques that I've picked up over the last few years: https://t.co/tHtEkMcUgQ
Theme for this week's posts: purposeful variation. Drawing attention to specific aspects of the mathematics, helping children to make new connections. Give your thoughts, share your own examples, improve my ideas... Would love to develop a discussion!

Drawing on careful #variation within #questioning to help expose what is happening. Draw the attention of your learner to key patterns and concepts this way. #whatItaughttoday
@tealady_p I developed this to help expose the idea of going through the 'zero boundary'. The game has no start or finish, it was used to explore the concept in an engaging way.
Came back round to this idea today. Can’t stress the importance of learners’ #understanding and #coherence of the method to help to use it flexibly. #whatitaughttoday
Base 10 cubes are a useful #resource when talking about measure. Helps to address the common misconception of why numbers get smaller as the units get larger #whatItaughttoday
