Every time firing Mike Tomlin comes up, people say “and replace him with who?" That’s a lazy argument. Tomlin himself was unknown when Cowher left. Mike Macdonald wasn’t a household name before Seattle hired him. You don’t avoid the right decision just because the next name isn’t obvious yet.

For some reason, Ladd became option 3 (and sometimes 4) in the usual read progression. So whenever Herbert had little time due to pressure, he rarely even made it to the point he was looking for Ladd. Not sure if the "demotion" is by design (coaching) or by choice (Herbert)... but I never really saw it being asked at any point this year.

I was totally in the camp of the fan in this case. Basically of the opinion that no matter what words are spoken, the player cannot engage.
