Your annual New Years existential crisis, courtesy of me. Let's see:
If you're around 40, today's 10-year-olds think of the 2000s the way you think of the 1970s and the 1970s the way you think of the 1940s.
We're 30% through the 2020s & almost 1/4 through the 21st century.

It's that most exciting #Copyright holiday: Public Domain Day! Today an amazing variety of books, silent films, and sound recordings(!) rise into the U.S. public domain! Check out this great review from Duke's Center for the Study of the Public Domain: https://t.co/ZwSYa6L6Ts
What a nerve-wracking end to the Euro 2020 group stages. The one plus for 🇩🇪 — among many minuses today — is that they’re in the ostensibly easier half of the draw. Not that I think they’ll impress based on what we’ve seen so far
#IchbinHanna is trending in Germany. Researchers make visible how the German academic contracting system destroys careers and dreams and keeps people out. Especially, but not only those for whom academia is not the only thing in life or who are first generation academics.

WOOOW. A Canadian research project gave homeless people $7,500 each — the results were 'beautifully surprising'.
