Hello all! On this #GivingTuesday2025, I ask that you check out the @HolidayFundNJ. I'm now serving as President and couldn't be prouder of the money we're raising to help combat food insecurity, mental health crises, homelessness + more.

@Tom_Hingley @wt_analysis I do vaguely recall seeing a goalkeeper (Tim Howard maybe?) do just this on a longer-range indirect kick that had been shot straight on goal. He saw that it hadn't been touched, let it fly into the net, and then just picked it out for a goal kick.
@Tom_Hingley @wt_analysis Right—it's highly unlikely a defender would have the foresight (or knowledge of the laws) to just step aside, especially when it's fired from such close distance.
@SecorWill@wt_analysis No, any player. This is why the referee raises his arm. He keeps it up in the air until it is touched by another player (of either team). Once it is down, the ball can enter the goal legally.
@wt_analysis So yes, you could just smash it and hope it hits a defender. But the smart defenders could also just get out of the way. If it enters the goal directly, result is a goal kick.
@DocCrom I saw this in the theater when it came out, with two friends. One friend was fascinated by the mind-bending plot, the other laughed most of the way through. Me, I was terrified to my core.
This Wednesday night in Brooklyn, we’ll be gathering to celebrate the career and legacy of @grantwahl and the release of WORLD CLASS. Come on by! Hosted by @taylorcobooks. Bad Therapy, 1021 Cortelyou Rd., Ditmas Park.
@mcmansionhell Stared at this out my office window for years. “Worldwide Plaza,” 8th Ave and 50th St., Manhattan. It’s not really sure what it wants to be. (Also, don’t walk under that crane!)
