FACT: In 1836, the filly Cyprian was walked the 250 miles from its stable in Malton to Epsom where, on May 20, it won the Oaks. It was then immediately dispatched on foot to Newcastle, where, on June 22, she won the Northumberland Plate having taken a month to walk the 305 miles

He was a good horse on his day. I first rode him at David Nicholson’s as a three year old, years later rode him in two Grand Nationals.
