@Tyland748957@fcpsnews Nobody wants kids to get hurt, thatโs not my point. The kids are missing out on their education; the curriculum doesnโt change due to weather, and now teachers will have to rush topics or skip them.
It has been a week. Fairfax County should have addressed snow removal by now!!
@samstein His motorcade passed me heading west on the Dulles toll road Sunday morning, on his way to solve all our foreign and domestic woes.
I mean, to golf at taxpayer expense.
@howie_hua Instead of 8x+13y=130, use the equivalent y=-8/13x + 10.
The x-intercept of this function is 16.25; any input greater than this, results in a negative value of y.
X needs to be a multiple of 13, otherwise the product of -8/13 yields a fraction.
For x=13, has y=2.
@howie_hua Thatโs a lot of negativity towards timed tests, despite the selection bias!
Quick recall is important, otherwise kids struggle as topics get more involved.
As a parent of a 1st grader, Iโm open to alternatives; if we value speed/accuracy, how else can we assess basic facts?
Here's a great summary of the case for making all K-12 schools phone-free. Like me, the author could not find any serious arguments, laid out in writing, for the other side.
Phones in hands and pockets interfere with just about every goal of education

@Laughteris85747 @houstonisdwatch @KHOU@houston_tsta@TxEdHouston@HoustonChron@BuildUpHISD @HFT2415 @HISD_Outreach@HISD_Insider Typo aside, thatโs just lazy formatting. The 10โs are different sizes. Next, why present kids with those answer choices? They may choose to decompose the 13 into 6 and 7 (sure, maybe itโs not as obvious as 10+3). Different approaches can lead to more productive discourse.
